2017 Kia Optima at Federico Kia of Wood River IL

The Kia Optima was redesigned in 2016 and the 2017 Optima further works to perfect that redesign by adding a new plug-in hybrid model, LED adaptive headlights, automatic high beams, and both new and revised packages. The Kia Optima runs the full spectrum of simple to luxury and allows lots of customization via packages. The Optima offers delightfully good looks, abundant comfort features, a well-trimmed and high-quality cabin, and a variety of powertrains. And who could mention the best traits of an Optima without discussing Kia's immense warranty-every Kia comes with a 10-year, 100,000-mile powertrain warranty and a 5-year, 60,000-mile basic warranty. The 2017 Kia Optima is a great family sedan-learn more about why below!

Under the Optima's Hood

The Kia Optima's many powertrains are beneficial to many buyers. These powertrains are associated with various trim levels; the Optima's lineup consists of LX, LX 1.6T, EX, SX, and SX Limited. The first engine you'll find in the Optima is a 2.4-liter four-cylinder that's good for 185 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque. This engine is present in LX and EX trim levels and has a fuel economy estimate of 24 mpg city and 34 mpg highway. In the LX 1.6T trim, there's a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that creates 178 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque; the highlight of this engine is its fuel economy though, rated at 28 mpg city and 37 mpg highway. For SX and SX Limited trim levels, there's a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that's good for 245 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. This engine's fuel economy is rated at 22 mpg city and 31 mpg highway. There are also two hybrid powertrains.

Design of Kia Optima

The 2017 Kia Optima is a midsize sedan with seating for five. Standard features of the base-level LX trim include automatic headlights, cruise control, a rearview camera, selectable driving modes, an ergonomic tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, 16-inch alloy wheels, remote locking and unlocking, a driver information display, a 60/40-split rear seat, and a six-speaker audio system with Bluetooth, a 5-inch central display, satellite radio, a USB port, and a CD player. That's a pretty comfortable suite of standard features, but if you wanted more, there are three available packages for the LX: Driver Convenience, Convenience Plus, and Convenience. The LX 1.6T includes a hands-free trunk, laminated windows and mirrors, a leather-coated steering wheel, keyless entry and ignition, and illuminated door handles. There are two packages for this trim as well: Value and Technology. Other trim levels include state-of-the-art safety technology, a panoramic sunroof, leather upholstery, navigation, and wireless smartphone charging.
