The Kia Sorento is a midsize SUV that brings many positive traits to the table. Back in 2016, the Kia Sorento underwent a complete redesign. For 2017, there have been a few feature tweaks, including compatibility with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Sorento has a lot to offer for a variety of buyers. Technology in the Sorento is modern and easy to use. The Sorento offers features that range from simple to luxury to performance. An optional third row allows extra space for passengers. Three engine options let you pick and choose your perfect combination of power and fuel economy. The Sorento is also still on the small side of the midsize segment, meaning it's easily maneuverable. All of this comes at a very fair price as well. To learn more about what the Sorento has to offer, keep reading!

Under the Sorento's Hood

There are five trim levels for the 2017 Kia Sorento: L, LX, EX, SX, and SX Limited. There are three engine options in the lineup for the 2017 Kia Sorento, but every model comes standard with a six-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. In all models except the base L trim, the Sorento has an optional all-wheel-drive system. The first engine in the lineup can be found in L and LX trim levels and is a 2.4-liter four-cylinder. Output ratings for this four-cylinder are 185 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque. The EX comes standard with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that's good for 240 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. Standard on the SX and SX Limited trim levels, and optional for the LX and EX, is a strong 3.3-liter V6 engine that can generate 290 horsepower and 252 pound-feet of torque. When properly equipped, a Sorento with front-wheel drive can tow 3,500 pounds. A similarly equipped Sorento with all-wheel drive can tow 5,000 pounds.

Design of Kia Sorento

The Sorento is surprisingly luxurious. Soft-touch materials and richly textured pieces can be found throughout the cabin and can be made even more appealing with available two-tone color schemes. Cargo space is generous as well, with 11.3 cubic feet behind the available third row, 38 cubic feet behind the second-row seat, and if you fold the second row flat, you'll find 73.5 cubic feet of space. Standard features are plentiful; features found in the base L trim level include 17-inch alloy wheels, an ergonomic tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, Bluetooth connectivity, an auxiliary audio input, satellite radio, a CD player, and stain-resistant fabric upholstery. This year's Sorento includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration, the preferred system on the market due to there being no need to download a third-party application.
